Interview transcription:
We interviewed Alex Shortt to find out how much PRESBYOND laser eye surgery costs compared to LASIK.
Interviewer: How much does PRESBYOND cost? Is it more than conventional Lasik?
Alex Shortt: It’s slightly more. I mean it’s a premium technology, and not all laser clinics can offer it. It’s been developed by Zeiss, who is a very large German optical lasers company. And so that technology is patented, and protected, and it’s only available on Zeiss laser systems. That combined with the fact that it requires a specialist group of skills. Your optometrist who does the assessments, and your surgeon, have to be trained in laser blended vision, and all of the subtle things that give good outcomes and help patients adapt.
All of those things mean that there’s a premium of approximately £500 more per eye for laser blended vision, over and above a standard Lasik procedure.
