What is the Lens?

The lens is one of the most important structures in the eye. It is responsible for focusing and fine-tuning the sharpness of the image on the retina.

Without a lens the vision is completely blurred and you would really have very poor vision indeed.

Another important role of lens is to enable us to look at a distance one minute and then next thing look very close up

Also without a lens in your eye you would be unable to focus your eye at various distances so another important role of lens is to enable us to look at a distance one minute and then next thing look very close up. That ability to change the focal point of the eye is critically dependent upon a healthy lens.
