The lens is one of the most important structures in the eye. It is responsible for focusing and fine-tuning the sharpness of the image on the retina.
Without a lens the vision is completely blurred and you would really have very poor vision indeed.
Another important role of lens is to enable us to look at a distance one minute and then next thing look very close up

That ability to change the focal point of the eye is critically dependent upon a healthy lens.
