PRK or LASEK is essentially the same procedure. It is the first generation of laser eye surgery and what we do during this procedure is we apply a dilute solution of alcohol to the surface of the eye to loosen the skin on the surface of the eye, this is then removed and the excimer laser is then applied to the very surface of the cornea to re-shape the cornea and this in turn corrects the glasses prescription. After treatment, the eye is uncomfortable for two to three days and the vision remains slightly blurred for a few days. By one week the vision improves and by one month it is stable and the eye comfortable.
